MEPCO Bill Calculator 2026 – Estimate Electricity Bill Online
The MEPCO Bill Calculator estimates your total monthly electricity bill based on current consumed units (kWh) using official NEPRA uniform tariff slabs. It calculates your exact base energy cost, fixed charges, Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA), Financing Cost (FC) Surcharge, Electricity Duty, General Sales Tax (GST), and PTV license fees so you know your exact payable amount before your physical bill arrives.
| Base Electricity Cost: | Rs. 0 |
| Applied Slabs: | - |
| Fixed Charges: | Rs. 0 |
| Fuel Price Adj (FPA): | Rs. 0 |
| F.C Surcharge (Rs 3.23/U): | Rs. 0 |

| General Sales Tax (GST 18%): | Rs. 0 |
| PTV License Fee: | Rs. 35 |
How MEPCO Calculates Your Electricity Bill
Electricity billing under the Multan Electric Power Company follows NEPRA’s notified uniform tariff structure. Your final bill contains two primary segments: Base Energy Charges (determined by your consumption slab and connection type) and Government Taxes & Surcharges.
To calculate your bill manually or understand the calculator’s output, find your current month’s consumed units by subtracting the previous meter reading from your present meter reading.
MEPCO Domestic Tariff Slabs (Residential A-1)
NEPRA divides residential consumers into three distinct categories: Protected, Unprotected, and Lifeline.
+-----------------------------+-------------------+--------------------+
| Consumption Slab (Units) | Protected (PKR/U) | Unprotected(PKR/U) |
+-----------------------------+-------------------+--------------------+
| 1 – 50 Units (Lifeline) | Rs. 3.95 | N/A |
| 1 – 100 Units (Lifeline) | Rs. 7.74 | N/A |
| 1 – 100 Units | Rs. 7.74 | Rs. 22.44 |
| 101 – 200 Units | Rs. 14.16 | Rs. 28.91 |
| 201 – 300 Units | N/A | Rs. 33.10 |
| 301 – 400 Units | N/A | Rs. 36.46 |
| 401 – 500 Units | N/A | Rs. 38.95 |
| 501 – 600 Units | N/A | Rs. 40.22 |
| 601 – 700 Units | N/A | Rs. 41.85 |
| Above 700 Units | N/A | Rs. 47.20 |
+-----------------------------+-------------------+--------------------+
The 200-Unit Protected vs. Unprotected Rule
- Protected Consumers: Domestic consumers who consume 200 units or fewer per month consistently for 6 consecutive billing cycles. Protected users receive telescopic billing benefits (the first 100 units are charged at Rs. 10.54, and units 101–200 are charged at Rs. 13.01) and are exempt from standard GST.
- Unprotected Consumers: If your consumption exceeds 200 units in any single month, you lose protected status. Unprotected billing is non-telescopic—all consumed units are billed at the higher rate of the qualifying bracket, along with monthly fixed charges ranging from Rs. 275 to Rs. 675 per kW.
If your physical paper bill has not arrived yet, you can check bill online using your 14-digit reference number to confirm your protected status and meter history.
3-Phase Commercial and TOU (Time of Use) Tariffs
Properties with a 3-phase meter or commercial connection are billed on peak and off-peak rates rather than progressive slabs:
- Commercial (Tariff A-2 < 5 kW): Flat rate of Rs. 39.15 per unit plus Rs. 500 fixed monthly charges.
- Commercial (Tariff A-2 ≥ 5 kW): Flat rate of Rs. 42.50 per unit plus Rs. 675 per kW fixed charges.
- Residential 3-Phase TOU:
- Peak Hours Rate: Rs. 46.85 per unit
- Off-Peak Hours Rate: Rs. 34.53 per unit
- Fixed Monthly Charges: Rs. 675 per kW (minimum 5 kW sanctioned load)
If your electricity load demand has increased or you need a dedicated three-phase digital meter for high-consumption appliances, you can submit an application for a MEPCO new connection through the official demand notice procedure.
Understanding Taxes and Surcharges on Your Bill
Base energy cost represents only part of your electricity invoice. Statutory surcharges and federal taxes are added to arrive at the final payable amount:
- Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA): Monthly fuel cost variation determined by NEPRA based on generation mix (hydro, coal, RLNG, nuclear).
- Debt Service Surcharge (DSS): A uniform charge of Rs. 3.23 per unit applied across all consumption tiers.
- Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA): Periodic capacity and transmission adjustment applied across defined billing quarters.
- Electricity Duty (ED): A 1.5% provincial tax assessed on base energy charges and fixed monthly costs.
- General Sales Tax (GST): An 18% federal tax levied under the Sales Tax Act on the aggregate taxable amount (Base Cost + Fixed Charges + FPA + Surcharges). Protected consumers using 200 units or less are exempt.
- PTV License Fee: A fixed government charge of Rs. 35 for residential connections and Rs. 60 for commercial meters.
- Late Payment Surcharge (LPS): An approximate 8% surcharge added to your total bill if payment is made after the designated due date.
Step-by-Step: How to Calculate Your Bill Manually
Example Scenario: Unprotected Domestic User (250 Units, 1 kW Load)
- Base Energy Cost:
250 units × Rs. 33.10 = Rs. 8,275.00 - Fixed Charges (1 kW):
Rs. 350.00 - Subtotal (Cost of Electricity):
Rs. 8,625.00 - FPA (at Rs. 2.50/unit):
250 × 2.50 = Rs. 625.00 - DSS (Rs 3.23/U):
250 × 3.23 = Rs. 807.50 - Quarterly Adjustment (Rs. 0.50/unit):
250 × 0.50 = Rs. 125.00 - Electricity Duty (1.5%):
Rs. 8,625.00 × 0.015 = Rs. 129.38 - Taxable Base for GST:
Rs. 8,625 + 625 + 807.50 + 125 + 129.38 = Rs. 10,311.88 - GST (18%):
Rs. 10,311.88 × 0.18 = Rs. 1,856.14 - PTV License Fee:
Rs. 35.00 - Total Amount Payable (Within Due Date): Rs. 12,203
- Payable After Due Date (+8% LPS): Rs. 13,179
Practical Ways to Keep Your Units Under the 200 Threshold
Staying below 200 units keeps your account in the protected category, cutting your monthly bill by more than half compared to unprotected rates:
- Log your meter every 7 days: Track weekly unit consumption to identify high-load spikes early in the billing cycle.
- Optimize air conditioning: Setting inverter ACs to 26°C reduces compressor power draw by 20–25% compared to running at 18°C.
- Shift heavy loads to off-peak periods: Run water pumps, washing machines, and electric irons during early morning or daytime hours.
- Eliminate phantom power draw: Unplug standby appliances, power bricks, and older uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units with poor transformer efficiency.
